THE INSTITUTE

Brazil Steel Institute is a representative entity of the Brazilian steel producing companies. Formerly the Instituto Brasileiro de Siderurgia, it was founded on May 31, 1963.

Duties

  • Conduct studies and research related to production, equipment and technology, raw materials and energy, market trends, new steel applications and industrial relations;
  • Collect data and prepare and disseminate statistics;
  • Collaborate on product standardization;
  • Develop programs and policies applied by the sector;
  • Act as a sectoral representative with public and private agencies and entities in the country and abroad;
  • Conduct public relations activities and maintains contact with similar entities abroad

BOARD OF DIRECTORS

The Board of Directors is composed of the senior management of each company associated with the Brazil Steel Institute.

The Board of Directors is responsible for defining the Institute's guidelines and action strategies, analyzing the profit and loss statements for the previous year, accompanied by the Fiscal Council's opinion, and deciding on the budgets and contributions of Members, among other demands. Elections for chairman take place every two years.
